Frost mage stats priority

[:1]Decided to play around with the Frost PvE spec and was just wondering, what exactly should i be reforging to reach the raiding hit cap? Mainly when it comes to crit / haste i don't really know what to drop to reduce dps loss in order to reach the hit cap.
Intellect>Hit until 17%>Crit until 33%>Mastery>Haste>Crit after 33%

For crit until 33%, don't forget to take into account crit modifying effects such as molten armor, even though you're not likely to reach 33% crit as soon.

How was Ice Lance not buffed in this patch?

[:1]IMO it the GCD should be moved to .5 seconds, that would make frost at least somewhat viable in pvp.
they should bring the glyph back, the one that would make it so it deals x4 dmg instead of x3 on frozen targets..
i was just piggybacking..
They should take the cooldown off Frost Nova and make Ice Lance an AOE so I can make a macro and spam it over and over again for free HKs and Glad.
Also, if used on any melee class them to instantly explode, deleting their account and that of any other melee in a 1000y radius.

If it is ranged, it will deal the usual 3x damage to froen targets, taking off half their life in the process.
See...at least the first two were somewhat imaginative in their trolling in that it could possibly be believable. The rest are just lazy and boring. Good trolling seems to be a lost art these days.

Ice Lance should just be a player aura that damages everyone in range. Having to cast it really puts mages at a disadvantage. This change would finally make mages competitive.
It was buffed you didnt see?

Ice Lance now instantly resets the cooldown of your Deep Freeze.

Deep Freeze now has no DR...rejoice!
I still wonder how things would have been if Arctic Winds had made it to live. :O

Mirror Images

[:1]I don't know what's going on with them, but they are agro'ing like level 1 mobs. Both in Stonecore and in Deadmines, I pull out my mages, and the group on the other side of the cave (40ish yards away) agro my mages. No they are not attacking the NPC's, they are attacking the boss, but the group runs right over and starts smacking them.
Ok, I figured this out...

Mirror Images are not being removed from a mobs agro table on a wipe.

In Stonecore, a tank wiped on Ozruk (stone giant boss). So to make it a quick wipe, I ran into a random group to quickly die. The next pull, I used my Mirrors and that group ran from across the tunnel to attack us.

In HoO, we had snakes up with us on the platform and used my Mirrors. The tank died, we wiped, and the snake ran back down. The next attempt, I started the fight with Mirrors and all those snakes ran back up to us.

In BRC, on the first boss, a hunter accidental sent her pet to a far away group. We wipe and they all reset. The next pull, when I use Mirrors, that far away group starts running to us. I target them and they are all looking at my Mirrors.

Blizz, please fix. Please remove the Mirrors from the mobs agro list on reset/wipes, or even after they despawn would be nice.

frost glyphs

[:1]I'm a new mageling and was curious what glyphs to use.

Thanks!

Impact

[:1]From new patch notes:

"Starfall will no longer strike targets that are not in combat and will now drop stars at a slightly faster rate."

I'd like to see the same thing happen to the fire mage's impact ability (the in combact clause). At the very least, can impact not affect neutral targets? If there is a reason druid's will get this change to starfall and mages won't can I please get an explanation? K thanks bye!

How can I get better?

[:1]I know it's a bit late in the expansion to be asking for advice, but why not. Just by looking at my armory, does anyone know if there's anything i can do to bring my dps up a little bit? It's not bad right now (usually in top 3 or 4 in raids) but i feel like i could be doing better.
I'm going to assume your main spec is Arcane PvE.

Gems:
Red Socket, Prismatic Socket (belt buckle) or Blue/Yellow socket with a useless bonus: 20 int
Yellow Socket with a useful bonus: 10 int 10 haste
Blue Socket with a useful bonus: 10 int 10 hit

Enchants: (I'll only list the ones you don't already have)
Chest: 10 stats
Feet: Tuskarr's Vitality if you need to mobility (you don't have Imp. Blink so you probably do), or Icewalker if you don't.

Trinkets: (This is a slightly educated guess, there's no currently working sim and I'm too lazy to do the maths myself)
Ditch the Quill, use reforging to turn less useful stats like spirit or crit into hit if you need to after using 10 int, 10 hit gems. Pick up a trinket like Abyssal Rune, eventually replacing it with something better from a raid (DFO, Spyglass, RotD).

Rotation: Use the rotation detailed in EJ's Arcane Thread (Burn, Regen, Conserve) when the boss is going to last longer than you can sit there spamming AB for.

Thank you very much! The gem tips were very helpful. Cleared some stuff up, thanks again.
You also only need 17% Hit

I was going to type that but he saved me the trouble :P

Spellsteal?

[:1]Does anyone know of an addon that will tell me when a boss has a stealable spell upon him? DBM occasionally tells me if so and so has something and to dis-spell it now, but I'd like something a bit more mage friendly and accurate. =)
X-perl kinda tells you what spells you can steal as the spell will be "glowing" under the bosses portraits. But not all "glowing" spells are stealable like Ice Block or Bubble.
magenuggets

You can use Power Auras for this.
magenuggets

^^

That's what I use too. A neat, small little box will appear when you target someone that has a stealable buff and lists all the stealable buffs available.
The default interface target frame shows stealable buffs at the bottom of the list highlighted in yellow. But if you're using some crazy UI addon, I would reccomend magenuggets.
Yeah i use Magenuggets for that too
I could be mistaken about this but I think the addons people suggested (xperl, magenuggets, powerauras) will only inform you if your current target (or your focus) has something you can spellsteal, whereas DBM is capable of telling you if any mob has something you can snatch (because it can see mobs other players have selected and their DBM can tell your DBM about it).
I hear there's this thing called paying attention...
Attention =/= pay attention.
Default UI
magenuggets

Is what the majority of mages I know use. Small light weight and very powerful. It can also have seperate proc alerts for a variety of mage spells. Plus adds the Spellsteal monitor window so anytime something you are targeting has a spellstealable buff on them it will pop up and tell you. Very handy indeed. Has won me several spell stolen innervates on Deathwshisper from mind controlled druids.
Spell Stealer

Simply put, this addon creates a movable frame listing
any and all buffs that you can steal from your current target.
If the target has no stealable buffs, the frame stays hidden.

SpellStealer is what I use, MageFever had an awesome on screen button that you could place anywhere and use click it with your mouse but they have not updated it in forever and it finally broke on me when 4.0 popped. Another addon that I find a must for any caster class, is Quartz. Spell cast time that takes your Latency in to the equation.
Paying attention trumps all of this, as you can do so on 2 targets (your kill target, and your focus target, duh). It ain't hard to see on your target if they have any buffs since they show up on a separate row from debuffs on that target. Real players don't need add-ons to rely on, for ANYTHING.

Only part I don't like about Spellsteal/Decurse atm is that you could continually be spamming those buttons on a target now and even if they don't have anything to dispel, you'll still keep casting the dispel. Pre-4.0, you'd get a red line saying "Nothing to steal/remove".

Any chance we could get that line back if we've spellstolen somebody dry? I can deal without it since I'm 1 of the few players in the game that isn't afflicted by tunnel-vision, facerolling syndrome, and actually can see and pay attention to EVERYTHING.
where can i download "paying attention"?
