[:1]Hey guy's. I don't get what's wrong with Arcane. I do better dps with Arcane than I do fire and frost.
Now maybe it's because of the two years I have been playing my mage, I have never spected into fire, till i tired it here this week. And in frost I do awsome, but that is pvp. and that is all i have pretty been doing.
I know I have no gear, and I know my enchants are messed up, because I just been leveling up my encahting, and i just enchating my stuff. But once i get that squared away, should i stick with arcane, or go to fire or what?
Thanks.
I assume you are attempting fire while gearing for it. You need Int > Hit > Crit. Remember that for heroics you only need like 6% hit
Fire mages rely a lot on crit, and as such, rely heavily on gear. You may also just not be used to the spec. Play whatever spec you find the most fun, as you will probably do the most dps with whatever spec you know and feel the most comfortable with.
In raid situations, our mobility is heavily lacking, and the single-target DPS that you would think should make up for it is also lacking. AoE damage is lacking as well, but that shouldn't be as big of an issue, as not all classes necessarily have to be AoE masters, and there aren't many situations in the game where sustained AoE damage is necessary, just burst.
However, I love Arcane, and I do not like playing either of the other two specs. I go Frost on occasion if it helps my 10-man, namely for Cho'gall add management, but otherwise I love the challenge Arcane brings to the table. It has nothing to do with watching a few DoT timers, or waiting for procs. It's a game of analyzing the boss mechanics and maximizing your burn phases, while also optimizing the number of arcane blasts in the conserve rotation.
In short, pick what you enjoy and stick with it. Arcane has its issues, but you can still progress with it.
